some info on the einsiedler homestead as supplied by
clifford Lummerding

The Homestead was six miles south of Bruno. If you turned East one mile, then south 3/4 mile you would be at the farm we lived at. Mom and Dad rented from Peter Schwinghamer, a brother to ones in town (I think). If you turned West at the 6 mile corner, and a half mile in on left was Henry Greuel's. Past them and around a slough and about half mile or less was the homestead on the right. About a half mile north, on a little hill. Jacob, Barbara, Joe, Theresa, Jack, Helen, and Johnny were all born there. All is explained in the " Bruno Book " called "Up to Now". It is a history of Bruno, with most inhabitants listed. Peter Schwinghamer was Dad's benefactor, and started the ball team, owned the farm we lived on, built the rink, and Lumber yard, etc. It's all in the book. Please contact Donna Olchowlski in Bruno, for your copy of the book.

Hi: I read Cliffords comments on the Einsiedler homestead and have many memories of it as I lived there during my early childhood and moved to the Bill Koenig farm in 1947. Dad hauled water from the slough mentioned by driving into it on the flooded road and filling the barrels on the wagon. He later had a crew come in to dig the dugout below the hill. Many more stories about our fathers who I think were rather high spirited, and definitely not afraid of a sip or two.

Enough for now. Doug
